Keynote Speaker
We're pleased to announce that our keynote speaker for this event will be Anna Travers. Anna has worked for over 20 years in health and social service organizations focused on the issues of marginalized populations (women, youth and lesbian, gay, bi and trans people). A long time activist and speaker on LGBT health issues, Anna is currently the Manager of the Ontario Rainbow Health Resource Centre based at the Sherbourne Health Centre in Toronto. The resource centre offers a range of information, training and support strategies to promote increased competence and sensitivity in serving Ontario's sexual and gender minority communities.
Special Guest
Chief Armand La Barge of York Regional Police will also be attending our event, to bring welcoming greetings.
Community Fair
Our picnic event will include a community fair featuring a selection of local businesses and community organizations. Vendors and community groups wishing to participate: please contact us, to obtain further information and a registration form.
Pride Picnic And BBQ - Community Safety Village - Bruce's Mill Conservation Area - Sundayy, June 22nd, 12pm-4pm
2008 Picnic Our main event this year will again be held at the Community Safety Village, within Bruce's Mill Conservation Area near Stouffville.
The conservation area is home to a mill pond and restored mill, from which the park takes its name.
Bruce's Mill Although our event is scheduled for the afternoon, the park will be open from 9am-9pm and offers many other attractions including nature trails, forests, picnic areas and a driving range.

As with all our events, we extend an invitation to all families and friends, not only within the LGBTQ2 community but also the community at large.
Community Safety Village The Community Safety Village is located in the heart of the conservation area. This York Regional Police facility is used to teach fire, traffic and personal safety to primary school children.
Our event will offer a unique opportunity to tour the village, which contains paved roads and sidewalks, operating traffic lights, a working railway crossing signals and lights, playground and 30 miniature buildings.
CSV Building The Community Safety Village facility also provides an undercover area that we will use in the event of adverse weather conditions, as well as an indoor community space.
Commencing at 12.30, our schedule for the afternoon will include:

How To Get There
By car By car: Take highway 404 to Stouffville Side Road and turn east towards Stouffville. The Community Safety Village is located in Bruce's Mill Conservation Area, on Stouffville Side Road between Warden Avenue and Kennedy Rd. (See map below).
By public transit By public transit: We will be organizing a shuttle service to our event from the VIVA Blue Bernard bus stop in Richmond Hill. If you wish to make use of this service, please contact us for more information.

Please note: The weekend entry fee for Bruce's Mill Conservation Area is $5 per adult, $4 for seniors and free for under 15's. However, if you will only be attending our event at the Community Safety Village, between noon and 4pm, please indicate this at the park entrance gatehouse and there will be no entry fee.
